Natwick also is hosting some awesome clinics in Aug. & Sept.
His web site has all the info and I do recommend taking part in these fun and informative Cross clinics.

Natwick on his way to his first Senior title in 1981 at Pacifica. Yes there is a helmet under that cap, and dismounting must have been interesting with toe straps.....
Racing in Golden Gate Park, Natwick fights for the lead. What catches me about this photo is the cool helmets the riders were sporting. And the lack of course tape and course marking. Apparently it was the gentleman's rule to dismount over the logs on the ground- no pins/poles & tape needed. Now a days the fields are so full and wild that riders would simply go around any logs on the ground if they were not taped off with pins/poles and course tape.....
Starts in the 1970's and early 80's were undertaken with riders off of their bikes and on the run. This style of start might be a little chaotic in today's races where some of the fields have over 80 riders in the class at once.....

Masters Worlds Cancelled

Katrina Baumsteiger has been one of the most successful Nor-Cal racers at the Masters World Championships in past years...

A few of the most dedicated and best Masters racers in Nor-Cal would venture to Belgium each Jan. for the coveted Masters World Championships. This year the news just came in that the event has been cancelled for the 2009-10 season. Here is the link to the story fresh off the Internet press thanks to Cyclocross Magazine...

Northern California's finest Masters racers such as Mark Howland & Henry Kramer made a annual voyage overseas to take on the best Cyclocross competition at the Masters World Championships. This year the event is cancelled, will it surface at a new venue??

Mark Howland...
Henry Kramer...

Odds are that this is not the end of this story. I suspect this event could surface at a new venue somewhere in Europe, or maybe somewhere in North America.
