National Championships Registration Opens Tonight, Friday-12:01 a.m. EDT

News just in...... for Masters (racing age 30 or over), registration for the USAC Cyclocross National Championships in Bend, Oregon opens this weekend. It opens at 12:01 a.m. EDT (that’s Friday night for other time zones!). Like in years past, registration order does affect your start position, but this year, it’s just within your racing category (Cat I-IV). (So if you’re a Cat IV, get your rest, you’re not going to be near the front anyway, and are probably better off sleeping in, getting some upgrade points and registering as a Cat III.) The other categories (Juniors, Elite, singlespeed, B) will open on Monday 12:01 a.m. EDT. That’s Sunday night. You’ll need a valid USAC license # in order to sign up. Mountain bike or Road are both acceptable.

Site totally crashed and burned at 9:01.Gotta love technology. I can see it now this whole sportsbase site is probably run on some Billy Bob server in Bagladesh. Classic. Good job once again USA Cycing.

server actually crashed, was resurrected, and then crashed again, all in the space of 30 minutes. Is currently completely gagged after one hour. Nice of them to be prepared for the crush. NOT.

Yeah, why should USAC put any money towards cross in general, it can't possibly be gaining traction here in the states...

Just the masters racers alone crashed the entire system. Doh!

I have been trying and trying. Why did they not get prepared for a huge push of Reg. requests? Someone owes me a explanation or at least a front row starting spot.

No they owe ME a front row spot, along with 90 minutes of my day back...so far. Ridonkulous!

also, if they are using a catagory for line placement, 12 pro 3 or 4.
then they should givie us upgrades for racing cross. I am in 35's racin in the top ten weekly, though a 4 on the road. I love cross, total crap for the ruling of line -ups

There actually is a way to upgrade your cyclocross category. You can go through the USAC site, and there is an upgrade table specific to cross, even of you are a master 35+. The fine print though, is that your category will be the one you had at the time of nationals reg., even if you upgrade to a 1 by the time of nats. So, a conundrum. Do you use of valuable reg time while getting your upgrade approved? Or do you get the best spot on the grid while you can, and leave the rest to fate?

HAHAHA!!! I'm laughing at you fools! Especially the guy who is a cat. 4 on the road and thinks he should be a 1 or 2 in cross. Dude, do it like the rest of us and race hard and get results. What you people need to do is to just go up there and camp out a day before natz. Thats what I did up in Portland a few years back and it was cold, man...cold and wet, but I gots a good start spot. YEaahhh! Blazin' and bikin' Yeeaahhh!1

Hey TimmyC Here. It's Sunday night and I'm trying to register for the singlespeed race. Of course the reg. site is crashing, but i'm in now after and hour and alas there is no option for singlespeed. Am I missing something? Because it states "all other classes". Hoping somebody happens to catch this and has an answer. Thanks a bunch.

Hey I figured it out. For those who were stuck like me if you goto the USA Cycling page your get nowhwere as of now. It just keeps spinning you back to the info page. Then if you go under the rules page there's a link. But guess what? You go to the link and it will say something like the page is inactive. Awesome. The solution is to go back to the Sports base site and in the upper rt. hand side of the page there is a drop down menu for the Nationals. Keep scrolling down and you will find NON-Chamionship events.Go there and you will find the singlespeed and B class events. I hope this helps because the whole process seems pretty cryptic. TimmyC

Moonbeam Mark, things have changed Bro. All start positions are secured by USA Cycling and you are called to the start by order. Sorry Bro but you can go camp out in the cold with your dog. Most groups actually fill up and there is no sign up on site, and so you will be camping in the cold watching from the sidelines if you think you will be able to roll on up there and get signed up.

Timmy C, word from USA Cycling is you can not ride your MTB bike in the Cross nationals, so get your single speed cross bike set up, and I am sure you will do well!

Have fun everyone

How did you find out about the No Mtb rule? I've searched all thru the rulebook and have found nothing that states otherwise. It's no big deal. But was hoping since its a non championship event to at least do the singlespeed race with the Tranny. The masters race I was planning on using the Ibis cross bike anyways. If youve got a link on it that would be great. Thanks a bunch. TimmyC

I heard they are simply expecting everyone to use Cross bikes on not some hooped up super sonic 15.9 pound illegal flat bar firecracker Ibis MTB. They will pull you from the start, that is what the officials are instructed to do.

Hahaha...Well coming from me they should expect the unexpected. And that was some funny stuff right there. Nice work.
