Lighting Up Sierra Pt - BASP Teaser...

From Tom Simpson:

We'll have our course map posted this week on the nice and tight Sierra Point circuit that will have the last 4 races lit up like Cyclocross Heaven! We have eliminated last year's opening triangle section, both from concerns originating from the City regarding erosion and potential dust later in the year for Marina residents - but also to make sure we can illuminate the entire course without blackouts. We have 15 portable construction light units coming to turn night into race day - and since they're self-contained generators themselves, we hope you'll bring some lights to string up inside your team tent area and plug into our generators - we've got plenty of extension cords.

What will the course be like? If you saw Ruddervoorde, the "Really" Super Prestige race #1, on DVD or on http://ccx.nathanspear.com/, you'll have an idea. Tight, many turns, at least 4 and possibly 5
dismounts and probably sub-5 minute laps. It's all going to happen inside that big undeveloped block of land we used last year.
Remember, Saturday night! Racing starts at 2:00 pm with a schedule that is different from the rest of the series. Please also note the on course warm-up periods are listed and we've tried to increase them as much as feasible.

With such a small course and 5 minute laps, what about the issue of the 45M catching the 35M so quickly in the last two races? It seems like it will be difficult for the 45M to get through all the traffic on such a tight course. A separate 45M race or ahead of the 55M would be nice.

60 minute race @ 4.5 minute lap times ~ 13 laps

13laps * 4.5 dismounts/lap ~ 58 dismounts

58 dismounts in a 60 minute race nearly equals 1 dismount every minute

No?

Tom and Alex - Last night was absolutely awesome!!!

To the questions about short laps, yes I was a bummer to get caught by the 35A's top 5 on their bell lap, while I was only 3 minutes behind the 45+ leaders. However, other than the first 300m of lap one there was plenty of room to pass.

In all an excellent course, perfect weather (ok it could've rained on Thursday and Friday to keep the dust down, but spraying the course certainly helped), and an awesome event! Please, please, please make this an annual event.
