Bart Wellens is a Turd

"Even though I had the best legs of the season I couldn't do much more than what I did. The jersey went to the wrong person, he shouldn't have won it even though he's a teammate. He deserves to be on the podium but the other guys don't,"

-Bart Wellens after the World Championship race

What an ass.

This is so wrong on so many levels. To slam a teammate like that is unforgivable. His team should fire him, his sponsors and fans should abandon him, Vervecken should request his dismissal or seek another team. To slam the other riders who stepped up to fill the remaining podium spots is a further display of bad sportsmanship - this guy will have few friends on the course and hopefully face a gauntlet of hecklers in every race he enters from this day forward.

Bart Wellens is now officially the wrong person from now on...

It just gets better

Wellens to sue Worlds organisers

Bart Wellens started the Cyclo-cross World Championships with a dream of wearing the rainbow bands, but his hopes were quickly dashed when a camera motorcycle clipped a plastic barrier, sending it careening into his path early in the race. Wellens crashed hard, and unbeknownst to the Belgian, he fractured his wrist in the fall, and now he wants the organisers of the race to pay.

Wellens gritted out the pain to finish in fourth place, a remarkable feat for most riders with two good arms. "I could no longer lift my bicycle... but with 30,000 men shouting in the stands, you don't give up" he told Het Nieuwsblad.

But obviously, one step off the podium wasn't where Wellens planned to finish. "They have taken a lot away from me today," said Wellens, "a beautiful jersey and a heap pennies also."

He had a clean break in his wrist that did not require surgery, but Wellens will spend four weeks with the arm in plaster, miss seven races worth of start money and prize purses during that time. The Fidea Cycling Team manager, Hans van Kasteren intends to lodge a complain with the UCI.

Yeah, he deserves what he got; his ass kicked in almost every World Cup event by Nys and a run into the mud by a motorcycle at Worlds for a broken wrist. It must suck to be him. Maybe that's why he takes it out on the spectaters by kicking them from his bike. What a great guy! A real class act he is.

Prior to hearing he broke his wrist, heres a copy of the email I sent to Bart Wellens email/fanclub page:

"Bart, it is truly unfortunate that you had bad luck at the Worlds, but all the riders who made the podium worked as hard or harder to get their results. Bad luck happens! I've lost a lot of respect for you and your comments about your teammate, Page and Franzoi are so wrong. Be a professional, congratulate the others. Don't be remembered as a sore loser."

I don't care if he wants to sue the organizers for lost race money and his wrist; I know he's pissed but what an ass...what if Page had crashed and broken his shoulder again? I GUARANTEE you would not have heard how undeserving other riders are

Cross racing is filled with variables, and that is what makes Cross great. How many times has Bart been the beneficiary of someone elses misfortune during races?

The USA kicked Wellens ass and so now all he can do is bitch!

I am going to personally invite him to one of our Northern California races and our A racers will show him what cross racing is all about.

Silver is the color for the USA!

Starting with two NorCal riders at Masters Worlds, first Henry Kramer finally made the podium and took Silver at where else, Zilvermeer! Then on the same day Katrina Baumsteiger repeated her silver medal performance from last year.

And as most of you probably know by now, Danny Summerhill took silver in the Jr. race, Katie Compton silver in the Elite women's race, and Jonathan Page charged to an awesome 2nd place (silver) in the Elite men's race!

The U.S. is here in cyclocross!

DUH!
the US has arrived in Cross for a while! this is why we popped a few medals at the Elite Worlds this year, like when we took 2 medals at the Elite Worlds in 1999, and one of those was a GOLD!
the US has been on the map for a while and hopefully you will have some children yourself and your kids can race cross and then you could really be proud of the racing.

Incredible, the idiocy writen down here...

Unlike areas such as "starting
wars and being 'reborn' christians
Amerians are practically absent
in this great sport. We might be
a small country but are absolutely dominating the cyclo cross...
A bit more respect for fighting spirit of the WORLD CLASS rider Wellens is...

(you can comment that my English isn't perfect, I KNOW!)

thanks for listening and bye...

Tomva, you're a little behind the times in commenting on this post, which is now almost 13 months old.

There is no doubt Belgium has dominated cyclocross racing for as long as I can recall.

But I wonder, how do you defend his unbelievably unsportsmanlike conduct? His riding may be WORLD CLASS, but his attitude and behavior are definitely not...
